Hurst is proud to be involved in the construction of one of Australian Defence’s largest infrastructure design projects.
Utilised as a mobilisation and training area during the course of World War I, Puckapunyal Military Area has a storied history.
Converted into an established military camp in 1939, it has housed everything from the Headquarters of the Combined Arms Training Centre and the School of Armour and Artillery to the School of Transport, Army Knowledge Centre and the Joint Logistics Unit.
As part of upgrade works to the military area, Hurst has been contracted to construct 15 new buildings under the Armoured Fighting Facilities Program.
This program mixes adaptable facilities with the critical infrastructure needed to support and train the next generation of Army personnel.
From driver and service training buildings and simulation centres to maintenance workshops and training and classroom buildings, this project is all encompassing to ensure the best facilitates possible for defence personnel.
Key to the modernisation of Australian’s armed forces has been the investment into infantry fighting vehicles. With a $7 billion dollar investment, it is the single largest investment in Army capability to date.
With a key focus on modernisation and enhanced capability, this project revolutionises the way army personnel trains and the infrastructure that supports their endeavours. With such an investment comes an ability to provide services that are more efficient and effective.
There is also a long term view with this project. Rather than having to update the facilities to remain in line with new technology or vehicle capabilities, flexibility is at the forefront. This way, the construction services implement today can also support tomorrow.
As a defence project in a live environment working on Land 400 has been of great benefit to our team. Along the way, our project team has developed their experience and refined their expertise to deliver in line with stakeholders’ standards ranging from defence force regulations to client expectations.
